StartLesson 5 · Choosing a model

Before you start

About 83 minutes · 11 steps
What you'll do
Compare a small and a large model on your own ten questions (quality, speed and cost), then write down which one the assistant uses, and why.
Why it matters
The biggest model isn't automatically the best choice. A client needs a choice they can check, backed by numbers from their own questions.
What you'll walk away with
  • The four trade-offs: quality, speed, how much fits in one call, and cost
  • A report comparing both models on your ten questions, rated by you
  • A short decision record a client or an auditor could read
What “done” looks like
  • Every answer in your comparison has a rating, and its tests pass
  • Your decision record is filled in, and its tests pass
  • You've answered the two quick questions

Already comfortable with this? You can skip the explanations and go straight there; the tests tell you whether your code is right.
